Workshops in Athens, where everything began, are often organised in the air-conditioned classrooms of the Metafrasi School of Translation, which is right in the centre of Athens and thus within walking distance of must-see places in Athens, such as Plaka, Monastiraki and Omonia.

How to get there?

At some stage during your journey you'll hopefully end up in Athens International Airport -if you are travelling by plane of course. If you are not travelling by plane, and you still findyourself in the airport, then something has gone quite wrong. But anyway, if you are flying and you made it to the airport, then you're almost there. Greece may not be the biggest country in the world, you’ll see that walking from the airport to the school will require...

Pláka is the picturesque old historical neighbourhood of Athens, clustered around the northern and eastern slopes of the Acropolis, and incorporating labyrinthine streets and neoclassical architecture. Plaka is built on top of the residential areas of the ancient town of Athens. Until the early 20th century Plaka was known as the Arvanite quarter of Athens.

If you go to Athens there are two museums you should not miss out on -one of them is the National archaeological Museum, which houses some of the most important arfifacts from various locations around Greece from prehistory to late antiquity. According to wikipedia, it is considered one of the great museums in the world -it's not a lie. You'll see.

The New Acropolis Museum, which we will visit on Saturday, is an archaeological museum focused on the findings of the archaeological site of the Acropolis of Athens. The museum was built to house every artifact found on the rock and on its feet, from the Greek Bronze Age to Roman and Byzantine Greece. The building itself is quite controversial -not in the least because of its very modern architecture.
